WE STAY AT HOME

Hello darlings!

Unfortunately, on these days we are all living a new experience that for sure, it won´t leave any of us indifferent. Nonetheless, at the same time, it brings a new era of self-discovery and an opportunity to broaden our knowledge and intelligence of worldwide power.

The motto is the same, no matter the culture or nation, language, race, class or genre.

"We stay at home"

So simple, so easy ;)

Next stop...Pixton! A wonderful tool!

Click on here to refer to the Pixton Webpage to enjoy this fabulous work for my 6th year Primary students!

  • The learning objectives for this activity were the following:

- To take the students closer to the new tool “Pixton” (ICT) in order to make a Comic expressing the grammar and vocabulary studied in this unit.
- To ask for directions and give address.
-To practice the use of Must as an obligation.
- To autonomously work on a Project in a cooperative way for the whole class.
-To be conscious about their own limitations and look for strategies to keep on learning (I mean, when they had any obstacle carrying out this activity, I tried to show them different mechanisms to overcome them).

Do not miss the oportunity to try this Tool!
It´s a  MUST!

TimeToast!

Something new is coming ahead!!! Ready, steady, go!!! :)

On this section below, I´m going to show you the Timetoast activity the students of 5th year of Primary Education did last week.
Taking advantage of our final unit project, in which they had to make a comic explaining their daily routines, we decided to vote for the most popular one and make a Timetoast based on this one, I must admit it was a success!!!!
On the first place, I´ll show you the comic which "won", because it was the most complete, colourful, full of content, grammatically accurate and I can say, I´m really proud of this task as it joined all the aspects we worked together in class.

Then, I´d like to show you a image (capture) of the timetoast task:

And you can access to the link clicking on here

🔻Further down, I´m stating the learning objectives when using TimeToast in the group of 5th P.E.

- To understand the text and write a short description about their daily routine activities.
- To understand and use properly sequence adverbs “first, then, next and finally”.
- To use frequency adverbs (always, usually, often, sometimes and never).
- To give orders and advice using “must” and “should”, and
- To identify basic biographical information in short simple texts about other people.
- To inspect closely new tools on the Internet to improve their knowledge of the world.
- To autonomously work in a project that can enrich their understanding of the information.

One of the most important aspect is that, due to its visual power, my pupils got involved from the very first moment, then, I got their attention and they could learn the grammar and vocabulary through a different means; also, they told me expressely that they wanted to work on this at their homes, then, they got hooked and at disposal of other teachers that want to take advantage of this tool. Then, they are looking forward to doing some more examples!

MY READING HABITS

As for the reflection on reading habits and taking into account the different images offered, the people that are sitting around by the library seem to be reading different books about topics they might have chosen themselves; maybe science fiction, novel, and so on. Therefore, I reckon they feel relaxed, calm and happy because they are enjoying the reading surrounded by other people.

The image where it appears a boy and presumably his granny, the abovemetioned one is reading a book on plants, so perhaps, he is studying or looking for information from school; I guess he has not chosen the book by himself. As well, the pupils in class are reading some academic books the teacher has asked for.
It called my attention the man who is standing on that high stool; he shouldn´t be very comfortable, still, he is reading a newspaper that seems to call his attention in detail; so, he may be enjoying this reading, chosen by him indeed.

Furthermore, there is an elderly person who appears to be reading something from a small device. I imagine she is discovering happily a new way of reading and she feels very interested in that.

The genres that I enjoy reading in my native language are the romantic novel, adventure and science fiction ones. In English, that is the other language I can speak, I tend to read more types of texts, just because of the fact that I am learning new collocations, idioms, and definitely, I feel I am acquiring a wide range of vocabulary, what enriches this. Therefore, as I have mentioned, I normally read different types of texts depending on the language I am using; that is due to academic or educative factors.

I´d always loved to read in paper format, maybe because I´m a fond of paper and its smell… call me weird! But, I don´t really have a Tablet or E-book, although it is true that I consume a lot of electronic reading, via internet, news, and so on.
Last, but not least, I love reading at night, during the academic year, before sleeping to feel more relaxed; and in summer, when I have more free time, I love reading in the early afternoon, specially if I go to the swimming pool or to the beach. Then, I can spend the whole afternoon switched off from reality ;)
